📕 ARRAIGO reúne el trabajo documentado por Bénédicte Desrus a lo largo de dos años (2023-2025), en los que emprendió largas caminatas por el centro de Mérida, Yucatán. Se adentró en las casas de los habitantes, quienes generosamente le abrieron las puertas, para retratarlos con luz natural y realizar entrevistas en las que se reflejaron sus vivencias y arraigo al centro de la ciudad. Con ello, la fotógrafa recoge parte de la memoria familiar y de la propia ciudad de Mérida. El libro representa un acervo cultural e histórico sobre la cotidianidad, la cultura, el patrimonio y la identidad yucateca del centro de Mérida.

📚The book ARRAIGO compiles the work documented by photographer Bénédicte Desrus in the course of two years (2023-2025), during long walks in the heart of Mérida, Yucatán. She went into the homes of residents, who generously opened their doors, and where she was able to make their portraits using natural light, and conduct interviews that reflect their experiences and deep enrooting to the center of the city. Thus, the photographer brings together both family remembrances and memories of the Mérida city itself. The book represents a cultural and historical heritage that contributes to the construction of the memory of the center of Mérida. It’s a record about everyday life, culture, heritage, and Yucatecan identity in the heart of the city.
